Brown arabesque ethnic tablecloth rectangle cotton Arabic fabric lotus flower khayameya 200cm square 140 guest gift table decoration

  • Details
Fabric made and dyed in Egypt. 80% cotton, 20% polyester

This tablecloth in festive colors can also be used as a wall hanging or to brighten up a sofa. It will give a cheerful touch to your home.

The widths are all in 135, there are two different lengths, 141 and 197. Sizes are not standard as I have considered patterns. Indeed, the long edges of the tablecloth are cut in the same pattern for a better place.

Washable in warm water. Fade (wash separately). Iron on reverse.

Note 1: this is no standardized sizes handicrafts, there may be slight variation in centimeters (more or less 2 cm error margin).
Note 2: The fabrics are also handmade and you will notice that the patterns in this collection are not printed in straight (slightly offset printing compared to the frame of the fabric). It has no effect on the final product. You will notice when fold and unfold your hanging.

Everything started a crush on these fabrics used in Egypt during the celebrations: popular wedding, Ramadan, inaugurations.
I buy these fabrics in a neighborhood in old Cairo called "khayameya". Khayameya is an Arabic word meaning "tent". Around these tents art embellishment developed over the millennia using a special technique. This technique (called "in applied") sew on a plain fabric pieces of colorful fabrics to achieve a geometric pattern. Solid, canvas on which the panels are sewn is a fine cotton placed on a thick cotton canvas, traditionally used for tents. A good craftsman is able to sew the small pieces of fabric on the bottom of fine cotton and the 'canvas' without going through it. The back of the piece is so pristine. Today, "khayameya" refers to textile products using this technique, an artisan mastering this knowledge to fabrics printed in the same spirit (fabrics that are presented on this page) and a district of Cairo: "khayameya" Street, the oldest street capital.
